Citizens Foundation and UN agency, United Nations Global Compact Network — India (GCNI) on Friday jointly launched ‘Goalkeepers_2020’, the annual calendar for 2020 based on the theme on Sustainable Development Goals at the 3rd GCNI SDGs Summit in ITC Grand Central, Mumbai.
The calendar was released in presence of SP Shukla, VP, Western Region, GCNI and CEO-Aerospace and Defence Sectors, Member of Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra; KK Maheshwari, MD UltraTech Cement (Aditya Birla Group), Santosh Jayaram, Partner and Head, Sustainability and CSR Advisory, KPMG India; Bhaskar Chatterjee, Sec-General, ISA and Kamal Singh, ED, UNGCNI along with Ganesh Reddy, Secretary, Citizens Foundation.
The calendar, to be circulated nationwide, recognizes the efforts towards SDGs and the days that celebrate the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Each month is dedicated to one or more of the SDGs in the calendar designed to recognize the efforts by the various organizations towards these goals. The goals are allotted according to the United Nations Observances that relate to a specific goal.
“The idea was to come up with a calendar that uniquely celebrates our dedication towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Partnering with UN Global Compact Network India, the team here at Citizens Foundation devised the calendar theme which recognizes the observances in each month, and the goals they relate to. For example, SDG4, Quality Education is allotted to the month of January as International day of Education is observed on January 24,” said Ganesh Reddy, Secretary, Citizens Foundation.
