SCC’ members submit memorandum and return without meeting Governor

After not getting an appointment from the Raj Bhavan, members of the State Coordination Committee (SCC) of the State Government reached the Raj Bhavan on Sunday, but they were not allowed to enter Raj Bhavan. Questioning the working style of the Raj Bhavan and the Governor, the members of the committee got a Police personnel of the security cell posted at the gate to receive the demand letter and left from there.

Vinod Kumar Pandey, Rajesh Thakur, Bandhu Tirkey, Yongendra Mahto and Fagu Besra etc. were included in the delegation.

While talking to media persons near Raj Bhavan, committee member and JMM General Secretary, Vinod Kumar Pandey and State Congress President, Rajesh Thakur made scathing attacks on Raj Bhavan. They said that even before this, time was sought from the Raj Bhavan, but it was not given. “This time duly wrote a letter to the Raj Bhavan on September 1 seeking time for September 3, but neither time was received nor any information was given. It is clear from this that the Raj Bhavan and the Governor are working under the pressure of a particular party or a particular person,” they added.

When the members of the coordination committee were asked why did you go to the Raj Bhavan even after not getting time from the Raj Bhavan? In response to this, they said that there were issues related to the State interest that's why despite not getting time from Raj Bhavan, we came to hand over the demand letter. “It is unfortunate that neither any OSD nor any secretary nor any responsible officer was available in Raj Bhavan. That's why the coordination committee handed over the demand letter to a sentry posted in the security,” he added.

Pandey said that whenever a bill is passed by the Assembly it is sent to Raj Bhavan and if the Governor returns it, then he has to be informed about it, so that the Government can amend it and get it passed in the Assembly again after that the bill can be sent to Raj Bhavan. He said that Raj Bhavan did not do so in the matter of returning three important bills of Hemant Government. He alleged that the Governor has violated Article 200 of the Constitution and it seems that the Governor is trying to shelve three important bills at someone's behest. He said that they are working on the instructions of a particular party and the Governor does not want local and planning policies to be made and reservation for OBCs to increase.

The JMM General Secretary said that 1932 Khatian-based planning and local policy, increasing the reservation limit of ST, SC and OBC and mob lynching bill is related to the interest of the people of the State. “This is a question of the prestige of the people of Jharkhand. Local policy had been the main issue in the fight for separate statehood. Even after this, the then Governor, Ramesh Bais returned it without any message. The new Governor, CP Radhakrishnan also did not take any notice in this matter,” he added.
