Fulfilling the aspirations of thousands of deprived children residing in remote areas through providing them support in availing basic amenities like proper health care and education facilities, SBI life Insurance on Tuesday donated a school bus to Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Minister, Department of Urban Housing and Planning, CP Singh said, “The biggest commercial bank has selected the best NGO for taking ahead their CSR programme. The work done by Vikas Bharti targeting the locals merely cannot be defined in words. I have been monitoring its several activities since last 25 years; the change that has been brought in a few selected areas can never be done by any civil society.”
Minister who was addressing the gathering on the occasion as the Chief Guest also urged to the public to visit Bishunpur to get first hand information about Vikas Bharti’s different ongoing projects in creating difference in poor people lives.
Besides a bus that will facilitate the need of several schools going kids entitled to all the basic rights, a cheque of Rs. 13 lakh was also handed over to Vikas Bharti, Secretary, Ashok Bhagat in the presence of several other dignitaries.
Bhagat on the occasion said, “Earlier contribution of only a few NGOs was recognized while the involvement of big companies with certain civil society groups was just limited within the urban jurisdiction. SBI associate company has broken this myth. This is not for the first time, when Vikash Bharti has received the support of SBI. Earlier, an ambulance was donated by the organization to Vikas Bharti, looking at our work.”
Highlighting on the activities undertaken by Vikas Bharti ever since its inception, Bhagat further added, “Our prime motto is to work for the marginalized people so that they can lead a dignified life. I firmly believe that being dependent upon the government for everything cannot resolve every problem. Working for the kids by constituting hospitals and schools is our major duty and is being fulfilled through the support of such organizations.”
Meanwhile, the senior officers of SBI life Insurance present on the occasion has assured all kind of support to Vikas Bharti in near future as the leading Insurance company aptly believes in bringing change in the lives of several marginalized groups through their CSR ventures.
