Sarna Samiti threatens State-wide protest

One of the biggest social groups of the indigenous communities in the State - the Kendriya Sarna Samiti (KSS) has vehemently opposed the ransacking on Harmu Road damaging posters and banners of Birsa Munda by a crowd on Friday.

It has also threatened to launch State-wide protest against it. Meanwhile, police have also lodged FIRs against 14 named persons and 1400 unknown people at Argora and lalpur Police Stations and have started investigation to establish the fact that the incident was done intentionally.

“It is an insult of Birsa Munda and other freedom fighters by Christian missionaries in the name of ‘ulgulaan’ (uprising) which could never be tolerated by Kendriya Sarna Samiti. It has revealed the actual face of Christian missionaries as they are corrupting Sarna religion behind the shroud of opposing changes in CNT and SPT Acts,” said Working President of KSS Bablu Munda.

The way they insulted our freedom fighters itself proved that the Christian machineries were trying to establish Christian State by breaking Sarna community, he added.

Muda further said that a statewide movement against the incident will be launched if action was not taken against the culprits by the State Government.

“State wide awareness programme against the missionaries and a campaign of wall writing will be launched very soon.

They will not be allowed to take double advantage of being and not being a part of Sarna community,” Munda said.

Meanwhile, a named FIR has been lodged at Argora Police Station against the people leading the crowd along with over 1000 unknown persons charging them for tearing the posters of freedom fighters and creating rampage during Modi Fest programme at Harmu Maidaan while another FIR has been filed at lalpur Police Station for gathering in Morhabadi Maidaan without taking permission of the District Administration.

“FIR under sections 147, 148,149, 353, 504 of IPC and section 3 of ‘Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984’ has been lodged against lD Phones, Bablu, Ajay Kundalna, Felix Tamba, Jyotish Toppo, Durgawati, Gladson Dungdung, Premchand Murmu,” said officer in charge of Argora Police Station Ratibhan Singh.

Investigation in the case was going on and it was being tried to find out whether it was done deliberately or it was an accident, said Singh.

Another FIR has also been lodged against Father lD phones, Gladson Dungdung, Samir Topno, Durgawati, Ajay Kandulna, Budhwa Munda, along with 3000 others at lalpur Police Station for organizing a public gathering at Morhabad Maidaan without permission of the District Administration and also giving fiery speeches against the State Government and other sections of the society.

A procession of tribal men women armed with traditional weapons and sticks took the busy VVIP Harmu Road to ransom on Friday in presence of police, apparently to mark tribal icon Birsa Munda’s martyr day opposing the changes proposed by the State Government in the two land laws in the State.
