Birsa Zoo Director AK Patra on Sunday informed that Saraswati aged 23 years is the oldest Indian tigress in the nation. She is presently suffering from osteoarthritis in forelimbs which is being recovered. “It takes around 10 to 15 days for recovery but Saraswati has starting showing signs in the fifth day by moving her forelimbs,” said Patra. Saraswati was brought to the zoo from Samrat Circus in 2004 when tigers were banned from displaying in circus and now reached to 23 years. “She is the oldest tigress in India. We will soon send her hair for DNA testing in Hyderabad,” said Director AK Patra.
