Most of the sand was mined from Barakar and Damodar rivers when lease was there but though officially it has expired mining goes on unabated in basis of fake papers.

One of the truck drivers who came with a truck load of sand from Barakar said , we do not required any documents.  Old challans help us at  different levels to carry sand to market place .

When inquired district mining officer Mihir Salkar refused to give any comment on issue ..

However , Tundi BDO AZ Ansari said that those may be shocked sand now being sold in market . Lease for mining may  have expired but those having license of stocking  sand can sell it, added Ansari. But he too remained silent on ongoing illegal mining of sand .
