Most of the matric aspirants of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) are probably not scared of exams. Their level of confidence was noticed after their first exam of Hindi subject held on Monday. Both girls and boys felt the question paper was comparatively easier than previous year’s papers.
In order to improve the performance of the students, several mock tests were conducted. Workshops for teachers of all the districts were held to explain methods of preparing exam friendly question papers. Experts from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), State Universities, State Government and Media were invited for suggesting these methods.
Afiya Afreen of St Anne’s School and Chahat Chaity of Carmel School who appeared for the exam at St Margaret High School said the questions were easier than the final exams of the school. “We did not feel like appearing in a board exam. It was due to the Pre-Board Exams and Sample Papers we have gone through,” said Jiya Rani, a student of St Margaret High School who is appearing for the exams at Bethesda Girls’ High School.
Similarly, Sushil Kumar, a student of St Albert High School said he is sure that the upcoming exams will also include questions from the textbooks. Kumar is appearing the exam in Azad High School at Karbala Chowk.
Notably, JAC Chairman Anand Bhushan had told The Pioneer on Saturday that he is hopeful of receiving better response from the students this year due to the initiatives adapted for improving the performance of students.
Students of Elizabeth Girl’s High School and Model Girl’s High School were noticed saying each to other that the questions were unexpectedly easy. “Unseen passage was the easiest part of the question paper,” Supriya Toppo, a student of Elizabeth Girl’s High School said. Even the parents were seen appreciating the Council’s initiatives. “My daughter came out of the hall in a smiling mood with her friends. I hope the happiness remains for other exams as well,” mother of an aspirant said near St Paul’s High School.
