Under the initiative of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), Didis of Sakhi Mandal have been doing exemplary work during Covid-19 period.
The Didis have surveyed rural areas of the State for Covid related deaths and also provided relief to those, who lost their lives since April 2020. So far, about 6,000 rural households have been surveyed, where deaths have occurred since April 2020. A database of around 3,800 such deaths has been prepared.
Through the survey, the work of helping the families affected by the death of people has been started. Identifying such affected families through JSLPS and settling their PMGGBY insurance claims is a priority. Banking Correspondent Sakhi and Bank Sakhi, associated with Sakhi Mandal, have been engaged in this work, while local employees of JSLPS are also working continuously to provide insurance claims of such families who are insured.
CEO of JSLPS, Aditya Ranjan said, “Families in rural areas who have lost any member due to Covid-19 are being identified by the Didis of Sakhi Mandal. With the help of Team JSLPS and Didis, we are trying to provide financial relief to such families by paying attention to the insurance settlement. At the same time, there is a plan to connect these families with various JSLPS schemes on priority so that these families affected by the disaster can be reduced to a small extent by connecting them with the strong and strong livelihood.”
Ranjan said in this work, the Banking Sakhi, who is constantly helping such families, will be given Rs 1000 for each case. “So far, by setting up insurance for more than 108 people, an amount of Rs 2 lakh has been made available to their families. This step will prove to be a milestone for the affected families in this hour of crisis,” he added.
Last year, Ramdas Karmali, the husband of Yatri Devi of Lakshmi Mahila group of Kasamar, Bokaro, died. Yatri Devi’s family was in trouble due to this incident. Through this initiative, Rs 2 lakh as insurance amount on the death of the husband has brought a lot of relief to the family. She said, “I was worried about my daughters getting married, I made an FD of Rs 2 lakh for her wedding. Insurance is truly our partner of suffering.”
Sakhi Mandal is working to make women like Kalpana, Yatri Devi and Pushpavati connected with insurance, to make their tomorrow.
Also, during this difficult time, a lot of help is being provided by providing the amount of settlement of the survey of the dead and the insurance of the insured families.
