Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is the first Central Public Sector Enterprise to cross the procurement value of Rs.10,000 Crores through GeM since the establishment of Government-e-Marketplace (GeM). This is a big achievement for SAIL. Also SAIL has been at the forefront of partnering with GeM. SAIL has played an active role in creating various functionalities of GeM Portal to enhance its reach. It is noteworthy that SAIL made a small start in the GeM portal by procuring Rs 2.7 crore in FY 18-19 which has crossed the total value of Rs 10,000 crore this year. Coincidentally, SAIL was the largest CPSE buyer on GeM with a turnover of Rs 4,614 crore in the last financial year. SAIL has already surpassed the previous year's milestone in the current financial year with purchases of over Rs 5,250 crore so far and SAIL is committed to increase volumes on GeM. SAIL is proud to be the flag bearer of this digital initiative of the Government of India.
