Established to facilitate higher quality education opportunities for the youth of Jharkhand to fulfill their hopes and aspirations in the year 2012, Sai Nath University Jharkhand has carved a niche in the academic sector of Jharkhand in a very short span of time. In an interview with the Pioneer, Pro Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Agarwal talked at length about the objective of the establishment of the university in the tribal State and its accomplishments so far in achieving the aim. Excerpts:
What is the objective of establishing Sai Nath University in JharkhandIJ
The university is established with specific objective of providing higher quality education and creating opportunities to the youth of Jharkhand to fulfill their hopes and aspirations. One of the primary objectives of the university is to stop the migration of Jharkhand talents to other states from such developing state which is full of natural and mines economy for developing the youth’s inborn skills and bringing them to the forefront of the education sector and providing finally Edu-Excellence, Job oriented and employment prone education to them.
How did the university contribute during the Momentum Jharkhand- 2017IJ
Keeping in view the present requirement of youths, Job-oriented educational courses, such as BA-B.Ed., B.Sc.-B.Ed., B.Ed.-M.Ed., M.Ed., Physical Education like D.P.Ed., B.P.Ed., technical education such as Diploma Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Mining), Agriculture Science- B.Sc. Agriculture, Medical Science- Diploma in Pharmacy, Business management- B.B.A., M.B.A., Computer Science- BCA, MCA , law- BA-llB, BBA-llB, llB and llM etc are run with complete facilities of Boys & Girls Hostel separately under the directives of Technical and Skill Development Department of Jharkhand Government in order to implement the ambitious anticipation of Chief Minister Raghubar Das Ji. Under momentum Jharkhand-2017, to give practical shape to MOU 32 acres of land have been acquired on which complete infrastructure with 2 lakh sq. feet is built suited to all above said different courses. The construction work for opening more science labs with other educational buildings is still on and in the way of making.
Which of the educational courses are run by Sai Nath University onlyIJ
Sai Nath University is the only University in the Whole of Jharkhand in which the courses like BA-B.Ed., B.Sc.- B.Ed and B.Ed.-M.Ed. such job ready course are run for the first time in Jharkhand.
How is Sai Nath University contributing to the economic development of JharkhandIJ
The university is not only catering to the students Jharkhand but also is a suitable learning center of other states like Bihar, Odisha, UP, Chhatisgarh, Andman and Nicobar Islands and above all the student coming from Nepal who are directly or indirectly contributing to the making of Jharkhand. Besides, the University has also not lagged behind in providing employment to local aspirant residents of Jharkhand. It is a well known fact that 90 per cent local residents of Jharkhand have been given due weightage in providing employment to them.
How is the university helping to curb migration of Jharkhand youths to other statesIJ
The university has already been developing skills and thereafter providing cent percent education without fees particularly to the students of ST, SC and backward classes. This University feels privileged as it has been conducting Talent-Hunt Competitions’ in all Schools of the state government & non- government in which 20,000 students have already participated in it. The winning students have suitably been awarded attractive prizes with the assurance of giving fee rebate to those who aspire to take admission to our different courses with 70 per cent for the first winner, 60 per cent for the second winner and 50 per cent for the third winner and 20 per cent to the participating students also along with participation certificates.
What steps have been taken by the University for over-all development of studentsIJ
The university is nurturing moral education and culture of Jharkhand. The students are also offered full opportunities for taking active participation in cultural programme. The University management sees to it that birth- anniversary of all freedom-fighters, a great man, educationists, and scientists are observed with complete knowledge of their life and achievements given to students. Especially when there are local Festivals like ‘Jatra’, ‘Sarhul’ etc, and their active participation is ensured through songs, dance and other cultural activities. For developing practical knowledge of the subject, they are offered opportunities for attending seminars and workshops. Students are also sent to different private concerns and industries for their field-studies and practical knowledge. To develop games and sports activities, different competitions are held and thereafter, the Winning-participants are awarded with suitable prizes. The University management has a close watch on their good-health-keeping. For this, a medical camp is arranged periodically at the University for students’ health check-up.
How has the university discharged its social responsibilityIJ
The university has been providing employment to the local residents coming from rural areas. Alongwith it, under ‘Swakchh Bharat Abhiyan’ Mission, awareness about cleanliness has been created in the minds of the villagers in response to which they are taking care of its mission very suitably at the rural level. The University also adopted some villages to educate their children.

It was in the programme of May, 2017 held in “Indo-Nepal Harmony Award 2017” among the new Universities of India, Sai Nath University was awarded with Best University among the new Universities on account of its students residing in the same campus separately in Boys & Girls Hostel in a most harmonious manner. The University is the member of Association of Indian Universities and also complies with ISO: 9001: 2008 certifications besides University courses are recognized from various councils i.e. All India Council of Technical Education, NCTE, Bar Council of India, Pharmacy Council of India.
