The Lok Sabha elections across the country is being fought on various national als international issues, but in State capital apart from these national topics, both prominent candidates (Congress Subodh Kant Sahay and BJP Sanjay Seth) have ‘Clean City, Green City’ as their electoral promises for Ranchi Lok Sabha, which votes on May 6.
Congress candidate Sahay who has represented the seat thrice as MPs, has blamed State Government for unplanned growth of Capital City. His electoral promise is if voted back, he will work in making ‘Clean Ranchi, Green Ranchi’.
However, the BJP leadership claimed that in last four and half years, the State Capital has witnessed much infrastructure development with Ranchi getting good rank in Swachh Survekshan.
State Urban Development Minister and local MLA, CP Singh mooting for BJP’s Ranchi candidate, Sanjay Seth said, “The fight is between loyal BJP leader and party worker Sannjay Seth and Subodh Kant Sahay, who has moved in different parties. Sahay who has represented the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat thrice during his stint as MP has not done anything for infrastructure development of Capital.”
Singh said, “Compared to Sahay, much of the infrastructure development which took place in Ranchi is due to initiative of BJP government.”
Singh also highlighted the slew of projects undertaken by Narendra Modi and Raghubar Das government. He said, “From the year 2000 to 2014, only 7111 houses for poor were constructed. But in last four and half years out of total sanction of 1.98 lakh houses for poor, 35,000 houses have been constructed and handed over to its beneficiaries. Around 47,000 houses are in final stage.”
Singh claimed that as part of water bodies beautification, 32 ponds beautification work is going on. Ranchi’s iconic Bada Talav beautification work is going on which also adorns the huge statute of Swami Vivekanand. The Ranchi MLA also talked about construction of town hall having seating capacity of 5000 people, vendors market for city vendors which were launched by BJP government.
The Urban Development minister also talked about construction of Rs 10,500 crore Ranchi Smart City Project over 656 acres in the HEC region of Dhurwa-Jagannathpur with modern commercial, residential and office establishments. Making a scathing attack on Congress and its ally partners for demolition of slums in Islam Nagar, Singh said that while the Congress party believes on demolition, BJP believes on construction and rehabilitation as construction of pucca houses for slum dwellers is going on. He also talked about construction of Haj House for Muslim brethren.Sources said that Singh jumped in favour of Seth highlighting infrastructure work carried out by BJP government as Congress candidate Subodh Kant Sahay in his election campaign have been attacking BJP government for making Ranchi a concrete jungle. Sahay claimed that unplanned growth of Capital has lead to cutting of trees and all the Swachh Survekshan where State and Ranchi has attained good ranking is stage managed.
