The new building of Sadar Hospital, which was supposed to be functional from July 2016 seems to miss its deadline again. The Health Department had announced March 31 deadline for starting the facility at the hospital. It was later extended to April end and now the department is struggling to reach the designated deadline of July 2016.
Notably, as of now, no sign of infrastructural augmentation can be seen at the new building of the hospital.
Official too believe that, some more months is required to fully equip the 550 bed structure, as few mandatory steps are under process.
The new building of Sadar Hospital is lying vacant since 2012, waiting to become operational and addressing the need of quality health care services in the state.
looking at the present status of the hospital, the State Health Services including the Family Welfare Department are clueless as to when the 550 bed structure of Ranchi
Sadar hospital will start functioning due to slow repair procedure and delay in procurement of basic infrastructural requirement.
Nevertheless, the tender for procuring equipment has already been floated.
“The department is active and will initiate the service soon. However few mandatory processes are creating delay. The officials involved with project are leaving no stone unturned to start the service at earliest.
However, at this stage, no deadline exactly can be stated. After being completely managed and governed by the state government now, all hindrances need to be addressed for its proper functioning,” Director, Health Services, Dr. Pravin Chandra, said.
The building which is lying unused for more than four years now, requires adequate repair work in the designated section marked to become operational.
Apart from this, basic infrastructural renovation is required too before commencing the medical services.
Though the project is being delayed from the prescribed timeframe but approximately 90 per cent restoration work inside the hospital has been completed, stated Chandra.
On the other hand, Ranchi Civil Surgeon, Dr. Shiv Shankar Harijan, added, “As the building is not under our purview so far, it is difficult to say, when exactly it will become functional. However, looking at the patients’ requirement, it is high time and must be started soon, as the old building is in pathetic condition. It will be beneficial for RIMS functioning too, as the crowd will shift towards this hospital after it becomes functional in full-fledged way.”
