Sadar Hospital female ward facing shortage of beds

Published on:

The female ward of Sadar Hospital, Hazaribagh, is facing acute crisis of beds these days. Only two or three beds are available for the female patients. Due to this one can always see more than one patient on a bed because sharing bed has become a compulsion here.

Sadar Hospital Hazaribagh, which is the biggest hospital of Chotanagpur Commissionaire, was known for its infrastructure and facilities in the adjoining districts but nowadays almost in every ward you can see lack of infrastructure and facilities. The position of female ward can be kept in worst category because here even beds are not available for the patients.

Though there are good doctors in Sadar Hospital but they hardly suggest any patient to get admitted in the hospital because they are aware about the position. A doctor said that in most of the cases the first impression of patient and his relatives goes against us but after visiting the ward they too don’t want to stay there.

The nurses who have been deputed in the ward say that they have been deputed here by the hospital management for better nursing of the female patients but we are helpless to serve the patients in this situation. They said that only those patients use to stay here whose relatives are not in a position to spend money so sometimes on a single bed even three patients can be seen here.

The maximum female patients who get admitted in the Sadar Hospital are of delivery cases but sometimes patients suffering with serious diseases too come and get admitted then the chances of infection reaches to its peak due to sharing of beds.

The female ward of the hospital was to be transferred in the new building of the Sadar Hospital but due to some technical reason the ward has not been shifted there till date. We are trying to shift the ward in the new building where there will be no such problem, says Civil Surgeon. However he failed to give any definite time frame within which the female ward will be shifted.
