A 30-year-old woman belonging to primate tribe Sabar jumped off the second floor of the Sakchi-based MGM Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning.
The patient was identified as Rubni Sabar, wife of Gurucharan Sabar, a resident of Gobarghushi village in Patamda. The woman patient was suspected to have sustained internal brain injuries.
Rubni, who is mother of three children, has now been admitted at the medical college’s emergency ward. Earlier, she was undergoing treatment at the Medicine Department at the four-storey Medical block.
Sources informed that the patient’s husband had met her at the bed on the second floor and returned back. “They had some talk and as the husband returned, Rubni left her bed, and the next moment she suddenly climbed onto a hole for fixing air-conditioner, and jumped out of it,” said an attendant of another lady patient. The patient was lying on a pool of blood.
KN Singh, senior physician of the hospital who was attending to Rubni said that the patient was admitted at the hospital on January 26 with the complaint of fever.
“Actually the patient wanted to go home. On Thursday, she claimed that she was alright. But we did not release her yesterday and promised her to release at 11 am today, but before a few hours she suddenly jumped off the medical block’s second floor,” said Singh.
Newly appointed hospital superintendent AN Mishra said he rushed to the spot after getting information about the patient’s fall from the medical block. The patient has kept her under observation. They are trying to find out the motive behind her suicidal bid. Meanwhile, a doctor informed that the woman is completely normal but is not talking to anyone.
It may be recalled that on May 14 last year a 45-year-old HIV-positive patient met a tragic end when he jumped from the roof top of the four-storeyed at the MGM Medical College and Hospital building. The patient was undergoing treatment at the government run hospital. The patient was being treated for the HIV and was also suffering from depression.
