Rural Health Mission takes note of AD syringe shortage in Palamu

The State rural health mission (SRHM) under the aegis of NRHM has taken a serious note of the news published by ‘The Pioneer’ on November 8 regarding acute shortage of auto disabled syringe in the BCG vaccination.

The Pioneer had published that as against 8,000 doses of BCG vaccination there has come only 3,200 AD syringes here in Palamu civil surgeoncy a fact admitted then by the official of the sadar hospital and one UNICEF consultant.

SRHM MD Amitabh Kaushal and Deputy director doctor Veena Sinha assured that the mission was taking adequate steps to solve the issue. Kaushal said the matter as published is well under cognizance of the concerned authorities and adequate steps are on the anvil.

Deputy director Veena Sinha said, "I would ask the civil surgeon Palamu to explain this as there is no point why there is this huge gap of AD syringes there."

Deputy director further said ' Palamu civil surgeon ought to have pointed it out to us here in Ranchi and CS ought to have sent his requisition for more AD syringes which would have been rushed there immediately'.

She said that in absence of this AD syringe BCG vaccination shots are being given with Inactivated syringe meant for anti polio vaccination and reiterated, "I would ask Palamu civil surgeon to act fast in this matter."

Sources said hundreds of parents just do not know as to what syringe has been used for BCG vaccination of their infants as the Pioneer has this information with it that similar shortage of AD syringes grips other districts of this state too.

Deputy director said, “I would find out if this shortage of AD syringe persists in other districts too”.
