As Dumka and Bermo Assembly seats recorded around 65.27 and 60.20 percent voting during the by-poll held on Tuesday the ruling alliance claimed that the mood of voters has reflected overwhelming support to the candidates of the ruling alliance.
CM Hemant Soren’s younger brother Basant Soren is contesting as the JMM candidate form Dumka against BJP’s Louise Marandi whereas Kumar Jaimangal Singh of the Congress is contesting against BJP’s Yogeshwar Mahto Batul from Bermo.
JMM Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya, who addressed a press conference right after polling concluded said that people have endorsed the performance of 10 months old Hemant Soren government.
“Three former chief ministers of the BJP campaigned in Dumka and Bermo. I am thankful to them if we are winning both the seats with a record margin. People have given them a clear signal that they are no longer relevant in Jharkhand. In the last Assembly election, we had made a history in Dumka. We had won this seat by a margin of 13,000 votes and this time we will break our previous record,” Bhattacharya said.
He said that voters disapproved of BJP leaders levelling baseless allegations against the Shibu Soren family during campaigning.
“BJP leaders will get no place to hide their face after their debacle in the by-poll. They trusted Babulal Marandi to save them but people have shown him the ground,” he said.
Speaking to The Pioneer State Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon said that feedback from Bermo has revealed that the Congress is winning with a huge margin.
“People can’t repeat the mistake of electing the BJP once again because BJP misrule is fresh in their memory,” said the Minister.
