Prior to the beginning of the Durga Puja vacations in October, Ranchi University (RU) is all set to hold the much awaited student union’s polls. The committee framed for the elections has prepared a schedule of starting the elections by the mid of September and completing the procedure by October 17.
“We are yet to commence the new academic session 2015-16 classes. They are likely to begin from this month onwards. The initial process for the elections in the post graduate departments and constituent colleges would then be starting around the mid of September. With the present cooperation of the students and administration, we aim to complete the process by October 17 which is before the Durga Puja vacations,” said Dean Student’s Welfare (DSW) Satish Chandra Gupta, heading the committee of the polls.
Students Unions like National Students Union of India (NSUI), All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) are already busy in establishing a campaigning bond with the students by raising voice for several problems of the latter before the Vice Chancellor (VC) Ramesh Kumar Pandey since May.
NSUI RU In-Charge Tanuj Khatri said, “We have drawn VC’s attention towards the infrastructural crunch in RlSY College wherein students appeared for the exam under a cycle stand. Also, we are constantly requesting the authorities to launch M.Phil for vocational courses like Management and Mass Communication.”
Notably, last year also, the university authorities were confident to hold the annual polls, but failed due to various objections from some student unions.
