“It has always been the varsity’s plan to offer post graduation, graduation, diploma and certificate courses under a single canopy. The Department will soon be known as School of Yoga. Since yoga is an interdisciplinary subject, RU Is also working to publish the books for each semester for the convenience of the students as it will be very difficult for students who can’t afford the material. This is the first time any Department will be publishing its books,” said RU Vice Chancellor, Dr Ramesh Kumar Pandey.
At the undergraduate level, the three- year course will offer 63 seats in which two will be reserved for students from the BPL category while six for those from the economically backward section. The course will also follow the reservation rooster approved by RU.
“This will provide a huge opportunity for intermediate students to take yoga as a career option. Many universities have also started a B.Ed in yoga and after doing their graduation from RU, students can also opt for it. For getting recruited as a teacher or for research in post graduation, a graduate certificate is essential. Hence, this will provide students with immense opportunities in this field,” said Sarkar.
