Excited with Ranchi University being awarded with B++ grading by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team, Vice Chancellor RK Pandey said on Thursday that the university would request the council for another review in another six months to bag ‘A’ level rating.
Making NAAC report public before university officials, Pandey said that working on just a couple of areas like establishment of Department of Education and Nano Technology, fulfillment of vacant teaching and non-teaching staff and couple of other such ground efforts could fetch the university A grade.
“Receiving B++ grading is encouraging keeping in mind that we have been managing so many things by ourselves under limited resources. Though the NAAC rating is valid for five years, we will work on certain areas and request NAAC for a review again in another six months so that we get A level which would provide us more autonomy in various areas,” said Pandey where Head of departments, dean, professors, teachers’ union representatives and hundreds of university teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
The NAAC team which visited to the university on 17-20 April has recommended the university to introduce Diploma/Degree and PG programmes in Social Work, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development courses, promote interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research, upgrade and modernize existing research laboratories and development of Central Instrumentation Centre among others before next review.
“The team has also recommended us of strengthening activities of Alumni Association and its involvement in the development of University, establishment of full-fledged Health Centre, Canteen, Psychology Counseling Centre and installation of CCTV cameras for safety and security of girls including prevention of Sexual Harasment Cell. These are some of the areas on which we can work in collaborative manner to see the University bagging higher grade in next review, which I would try in another six months itself,” said Pandey.
