The State road construction department has decided to spend Rs5 crore on three road projects. The localities — Baridih, Moharda and Hurlung, all of which fall under Jamshedpur East Assembly Constituency of Chief Minister Raghubar Das — will get a facelift. Executive engineer, Road Construction Department, Jamshedpur Division, AK Rana said that under the project three existing roads having a length of 5.5 km will be widened at the cost of Rs5 crore.
“It is an ambitious project and we are looking forward to make it a success. The roads which have to be widened and reconstructed are Baridih to Moharda, Baridih to Sunday Market in Baridih Bustee and Moharda to Hurlung. We have already decided to widen these roads early as possible,” said the executive engineer.
Rana said that none of the roads is longer than two kms, connecting Baridih from different corners of the Baridih and Birsanagar slum areas. He informed the serpentine roads connecting from one slum to another will be turned into seven metres wide. The road construction department has already carried out a survey of the roads to be widened and has suggested removal of encroachment at several points on the two-kms long Moharda-Hurlung Road.
Another official went on to add that the Government will chalk out an ambitious plan for spreading roads across Jharkhand. He said that high standard quality roads would be grouped in such a way that they would form corridors that connect important localities in the cities and villages across the State.
