In a daring incident five unidentified youths looted around Rs 7 lakh from the Central co-operative bank Chauparan branch on Tuesday morning. Within last three months it was the third attempt of bank loot in Chauparan. Previous two attempts were made in July and December 2016 in the SBI branch of Chauparan but fortunately in both attempts the criminals have failed.
According to the branch manager of Chauparan Central co-operative bank, Mukesh Kumar Sao, five armed criminals entered into the bank premises around 10.45 am. They started beating the customers and staffs and took everyone at their gunpoint. Within minutes they pushed everyone present there inside a room and locked that room. Then they collected the cash kept in the cabins of cashier and clerks and escaped.
After sometime the guard of the bank opened the door of that room in which they were locked with the help of another key. When he and other five staffs of the bank came out, they came to know that the dacoits have taken away Rs 6,98,379 from the bank. The dacoits also snatched two mobiles of the bank staffs. The manager immediately informed Chauparan police and the head office situated at Hazaribagh about the incident.
Inspector Shivpujan Singh and OIC Chauparan Sudama Kumar reached the bank and started the investigation. Some persons present outside the bank branch said that the criminals arrived at the bank branch on four Passion Pro bikes. They were seven in number. Two remained outside the branch while five entered inside. Within 15 minutes they looted the bank and escaped towards Chatra road.
GM Central co-operative bank louis Toppo also reached the bank branch and talked with the branch manager and other staffs. later talking with the media he said that they were planning to shift this branch from the site to some safer site and in the mean time this unfortunate incident took place.
The Chauparan branch of Hazaribagh central co-operative bank is situated just 500 feet away from NH2 (GT Road) near Chatra more. Since it is situated away from the market area and is on the first floor of a building so it remains out of site and mind of the majority of denizens of Chauparan.
