A day light dacoity was committed in the Chhaterpur branch of the Vananchal Gramin bank on Wednesday. Dacoits decamped with Rs 6.49 lakh.
SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha said, “The bank in the beginning gave us the looted figure to the tune of Rs 9.49 lakh. But when I checked the cash/chest it turned out to be just Rs 6.49 lakh that was looted by seven or eight unmasked dacoits in the day on Wednesday. Queried that bank in matter of dacoity gave such an inflated figure casts suspicion on the officials there to which Mahatha we too have noticed this as to how Rs 6,49,649 became Rs 9,49,649.
Sources did not deny if there was any coveted attempt to pass off this 3 lakh too as looted one. The dacoity took place around 11 am. Security of the bank was quite loose said sources.
