Rs 500 notes to grow in number

The RBI has assured that as the initial hiccups have started getting over after the demonetisation move, more and more notes of Rs 500 denominations would come into circulation.

“We are confident about more supply of notes in the days to come in Jharkhand and shortages to go away. Our currency press at Salbony in West Bengal, that until now prints only Rs 2000 notes, has started printing Rs 500 notes also. The notes would be supplied in this region including in Jharkhand which would increase flow of currency in the State,” said RBI Regional Director MK Verma on Monday.

Talking about other strategy, he added that strong rooms at treasury offices are being designated as currency chests to handle storage issue prevailing in the State.
