On the directive of the Deputy Commissioner, the district mining office of Garhwa imposed a penalty of Rs 11.31 lakh to illegal sand stockiest to be paid within 15 days through online banking portal.
After receiving information about illegal storage of sand and more than one and a half million cubic feet of sand by sand mafia under Ranka police station area, Garhwa DC Neha Arora set up an inquiry and deputed Sub-divisional Officer Ranka Jawed Anwar Idrishi for inquiry. In his inquiry report SDO mentioned that more than one and a half million cubic feet by sand Mafia. SDO Ranka has also questioned the role of the District Mining Office in the inquiry report.
The fine has been imposed on Mahendra Sahu , Chhotu Dubey and Suresh Pandey of Ranka. It is also mentioned in the letter that if the amount is not deposited within the stipulated period, a certificate case would be initiated for recovery of money and an FIR will be lodged against them.
