RRDA slaps notices to errant constructions

A team of Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) made a visit to outskirts of Ranchi, primarily at Oina village in Ormanjhi on Wednesday. The team with its Members Manoj Pandey and Rajiv Ratan Kumar accompanied by whole lot of Engineers led by Chairman Parma Singh inspected areas around Oina and slapped notices later in the day to those found violating RRDA rules.

“After getting a complaint of illegal construction there, we made a visit only to see that there was a couple of buildings, both constructed and under-construction, who had violated norms set by RRDA. We have sent notices to them and asked clarification,” said RRDA Member Manoj Pandey.

“One among them is a building being constructed by and for Eastern State Company in some seven acres. We came to know that the company has managed to get its construction map passed through Circle Officer (CO), which is illegal. We had come up with a regulation regarding this in way back 2007-08, in which it was clearly mentioned that no building map can be get passed through CO in rural areas,” said Pandey.

However, he said that it also came in light later in the day that the company had deposited a sum of Rs 33 lakh against getting its map passed in July this year itself, and had also submitted the map. But the company was slapped a notice to clarify whether why did it get the map passed through the Circle Office.

Though after seven long years, getting a permanent senior-most office bearer has started paying to RRDA since a couple of days. RRDA has started slapping notices to them who had forgotten since last seven years that there was any such body in existence, and violated building by-laws in their dementia. RRDA said that these activities of inspection would only intensify in coming days. The team had made a similar visit to Namkom area on Tuesday.

Right after the first meeting taken under new regime by newly appointed Chairman Parama Singh earlier this week, RRDA has intensified its inspection around suburbs of the city not only to slap notices to those who have violated building by-laws, but also to send the message that the organisation was very much active.

Another constructed building, named Abdul Rajjak Health Centre nearby at same location where Nursing Training and other para-medical course related institute was constructed, was found violating similar kind of regulation, Pandey said. “This building had also got its map cleared through CO. We have slapped notice to this building also,” said Pandey.
