RRDA meeting suspended halfway

Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) Board meeting called on Friday to discuss some of the important issues was suspended by its chairman halfway due to alleged vested interests of a few members who were not comfortable with the authority regaining its lost glory. At the same time, members opposing the meeting raised serious question over validity of the meeting, saying that the agenda with as many as half a dozen errors was not leading to a valid meeting.

Chairman Parma Singh said after the meeting was suspended that couple of the members were uncomfortable after getting exposed of compromising with rules and regulations of the Authority and allowing illegal constructions to carry on before he had taken charge. “Now that I have checked all those leakages and am trying to take things back on track with humanistic approach, few members are getting uncomfortable. They are not as free to visit and manage things on the spot in illegal way, hence they are finding it easy to disrupt proceedings,” alleged Singh. At the same time, RRDA Member Manoj Kumar Pandey who, according to Singh, appeared to be the principal orchestrator of disruptions during Friday’s Board meeting, accused the Personal Assistant (PA) of the Chairman to circulate agenda full of errors before the Board, making the meeting invalid. He also came down heavily on the PA for not providing him details and CDs of previous Board meeting even after a month.

“My only point during the meeting was that I was not provided details of previous meeting even after writing to Chairman and Vice-Chairman around a month ago, which meant I was deliberately kept uninformed about steps taken over outcomes of previous meeting. It was something unconstitutional as per RRDA rules,” said Pandey who claimed to have full support of many other members on the issue, including Member Rajeev Ranjan Kumar.

Notably, the Board meeting on Friday was called to discuss issues related to proposal getting DPR of construction of Birsa Bus Stand and New Daily Market prepared, appointment of at least workable number of human resource on contractual basis until the government provided full-time work force and most importantly, removal of 1.5 percent labour cess on construction. “However, I have asked to organise Board meeting in another 10-12 days to get all the issues settled,” said Singh.
