RRD develops head on generation testing kit

Published on:

The low weight head on generation testing kit that can be easily carried from one place to another has been developed by the Train Lighting AC Depot, Electricity Department (General) of Ranchi Rail Division at Coaching Depot at Hatia.

The head on generation is an advanced system through which electricity is supplied to such and other electrical equipment in trains by the engine mounted in the train, it does not require a separate generator, earlier for such and other electrical equipment in trains. Electricity was supplied through generators, now power is supplied by engines which are supplied by HO. This technique is called Zee technique, it also reduces air pollution and noise pollution and helps in keeping the environment clean and pure.

Previously, testing of the power car mounted on the LHB rack required the entire rake to be taken to the washing pit line by locomotive but now head on generating.  PNS

With the construction of the testing kit, it has been possible to do this test even without a locomotive. The power car engaged in LHB rakes can be technically tested by testing kits, and it is not necessary to take the rakes to the washing pit line. And no engine is also required for testing. Being light and portable in weight, this head on generating. The testing kit can be easily checked by carrying it where the rakes are installed.

With the manufacture of this testing kit, it is not necessary to move the rake by installing locomotives, there will be availability for other coaches on the washing line as well, saving time will improve punctuality, manpower and energy will also be saved due to lack of engine movement. .

Head on generating testing kit was constructed under the guidance of Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (General)  Kuldeep Kumar,  Senior Section Engineer (Train Lighting and AC), BP Gupta,  Senior Section Engineer (Power Car), Sewak Kumar, Technician (AC), KP Chaudhary Technician (AC), Senior Technician (AC) SK Sharma, Senior Technician (Train Lighting),  Mohammad Rahmat Ali and Sanjay Kumar contributed significantly.

Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Ambastha and Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) MM Pandit appreciated and congratulated him for this excellent work.
