In a bid to make structural changes in the Jharkhand State Food Corporation (JSFC), Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Saryu Roy today directed the officials to form a committee which could suggest measures to run the corporation in a more professional way. The minister, while reviewing the activities of JSFC at Project Building in Ranchi on Monday, expressed displeasure over lagging behind by it in accounts and auditing.
“As auditing of accounts till 2015 in the headquarters and 2012-13 in districts have been done, hence the minister has directed the officials to get statutory accounting done after completing auditing and accounting work of the corporation,” stated a press release issued by the department.
The minister has also asked for a detailed report regarding the properties of Corporation and also the condition of godowns all over the State. The State during the bifurcation from Bihar, had been given 80 godwons, while 160 more godwons were constructed later.
“The minister seeks a detailed report over the condition of all these godowns in the state,” said the release. The corporations seem to have been superseded by the State Government and appear to be ruled by rather than being an autonomous body, he added.
When informed about the lack of manpower in the corporation, Roy directed the concerned officials to start the process of filling up the vacant posts as soon as possible. The minister asked about the details of total sanctioned posts and also about the number of posts vacant in the corporation.
During the review meeting, Roy also directed the officials to make the Corporation efficient, active and beneficial for the masses.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson cum Managing Director of JFCN Vinay Kumar Chaubey, Director General Rohit Kumar Das and other senior officials of the department.
