Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy sought support from the people of Jharkhand to make National Food Security Act (NFSA) successful by removing the flaws with existing Public Distribution System, so that the shortcomings could be immediately removed at the time of its implementation.
According to Roy, view of the state government in this regard is transparent and pro-people. Putting an end to the apprehensions raised by the people who came to his residence on Thursday along with the District Council Chairperson Aarti Kujoor, Roy said that process of adding names in the list of beneficiaries will continue even after the launching of the programme.
“Not a single person who is eligible to get the benefits under the programme, will not remain out of the list,” Roy added. According to Roy, only after the launch of the NFSA, it could be found out that those who have been left out of the list whose names should have been appeared into the list.
Kujoor along with the others apprehended that the persons who have been left out of the beneficiary list will remain devoid of the benefits given under the scheme for ever as happened in the case of the BPl list.
“Such complaints are also been coming from the other parts of the state. Such a large number of people coming to me on the day of Karma festival itself explains the seriousness of the issue and also the intensity of the apprehension they have in their minds,” said Roy.
Roy told them that the responsibility of monitoring and operation for PDS has been handed over to the Panchayati Raj Intuitions.
Now, the onus of making PDS a success or doing any right or wrong with it lies on the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions at various levels.
“It is a revolutionary step to delegate the powers of the state government to the PRIs. I have also assured them that the state government will take such steps in future also in public interest,” said Roy.
Roy also said that he will go to Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh to examine how they are running the PDS system, and will try to provide more and more benefits to the poor so that the NFSA could be implemented in true sense across the State.
NFSA is going to be launched in the state form Friday at the birth anniversary of Dindayal Upadhyaya. The Act, according to Roy will prove to be a pro-people through which more and more people coming under BPl and Antyodaya will get benefitted out of it.
“Some deformities may come in the light during its implementation, which has to be removed though public cooperation. The system will be fully functional across the state, bringing complete curb over black marketeering and people eligible under the scheme will get benefits of it,” Roy said.
