Rotary Clubs to Provide Free Heart Surgeries for Children

In a heartwarming initiative, Rotary International District No. 3250, comprising clubs in Jamshedpur and Chaibasa, is set to launch the 'Gift of Life' program on September 29th. The program aims to provide free heart surgeries for children and youth aged between 6 months to 18 years who suffer from congenital heart defects.

This collaboration between Rotary and Amrita Hospital in Kerala (Kochi) extends its support to BPL cardholders, yellow cardholders, or individuals with an annual income below Rs 1 lakh. While guardians and attendants will need to cover travel expenses to and from Kochi, accommodation, and food during treatment will be provided free of charge. Rotary and Amrita Hospital will fully cover the estimated cost of the operation and treatment, which ranges from Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh per person.

The screening camp will take place on September 29th from 9.30 am to 5 pm at the campus of Karim City College, Sakchi. For further inquiries, please contact the provided mobile numbers: 7903710101 and 7004308382. The final assessments will be conducted by Amrita Hospital's expert team at Raj Hospital in Ranchi on October 3rd and 4th.

This commendable 'Gift of Life' initiative was spearheaded by District Governor S.P. Bagadiya in 2012 and has successfully provided surgeries for over 900 children to date.

Rotary International has a longstanding commitment to health-related initiatives, most notably its work in eradicating polio and efforts in the TB eradication campaign.

In a recent press conference led by Assistant Governor Rotarian Anjani Nidhi and Assistant Governor Rotarian Hetal Adesara, various Rotary Clubs including Chaibasa, Jamshedpur Femina, Jamshedpur Steel City, Jamshedpur Dalma, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, and Jamshedpur Midtown came together to share information about the program. Their goal is to ensure that this opportunity reaches economically disadvantaged sections of society through newspapers and TV channels, thereby making a positive impact on those in need.

During the press conference, Rotarian Hetal Adesara and Rotarian Anjani Nidhi expressed their gratitude to the journalists for their support and detailed explanation of the program. Presidents, Secretaries, and officers of various Rotary Clubs were also present at the event, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this noble cause.
