Amid serving people and carrying out innumerable service projects Rotary Club has gone for a new step ahead. Our next big move is to have 100 per cent literately in India and South Asian countries by the year 2017, said Dr Rakesh Prasad District Governor Rotary Club 3250.
On this move ‘Computer and Toilets’ would be made available in each and every girls school across the Jharkhand earliest by the Rotary Club, Prasad promised.
On Sunday Prasad had come to Bokaro Steel City to participate in a seminar on Water Management. The groundwater level is gradually depleting and has been severely affected in the past decease with rapid industrialization and population boom, said Prasad.
Over 70 percent underground aquifers in India are hard rock. Hard rock aquifers do not accumulate as much water as normal aquifers, he said. “Industries should go for water recycling, should use better technologies and reduce dependency on fresh water sources”, added Prasad.
The growing shortage in water supply and the rapid change in the methods of access, storage and distribution of this resource, generate conflicts in its use, despite the technical progress made, he said.
Notably, Rotary Bokaro has taken a lead in many social projects for polio eradication, environment safeguarding, medical camps, homeo clinics, mother and child health care, nutrition, water management and hygiene, blood donation, adoption of thalasaemia patients, educations, women empowerment, youth leadership, rural upliftment, and vocational training with peace initiatives.
Rotary International is a global and secular organization open to all persons regardless of race, colour, creed, religion, gender, or political preference. There are 34,282 clubs and over 1.2 million members worldwide. Rotary’s primary motto is ‘Service above Self’.
