Ranchi District Transport Office is dealing with technical glitches to process the Driving licenses (Dl) of students who had applied for the same early this month. The office had conducted a three day campaign for issuing licenses to the students aged above 16 years and 18 years above from July 4 to 6.
“Most of the students have not submitted proper documents such as date of birth certificate, address proof and blood group. Also, affidavit mentioning that the documents are true is not attached with all the applications. Due to these problems, we have extended the date of accepting the relevant documents by the end of this month,” Krishna Kumar, in-charge of student Dl at District Transport Office said on Monday.
Meanwhile, District Transport Officer (DTO) Rajesh Kumar said, “Whenever they submit proper documents, we will process and hand over the driving licenses at the earliest. Presently, 497 driving licenses for students aged above 18 years have been prepared but these are awaiting scrutiny.”
Sources at the DTO office informed that a student who comes and clarifies his or her documents will get driving license within three days. “Students have to ensure that they are not producing fake certificates. A fake medical certificate was found few days back. Since then we have alerted the students to submit original documents,” Kumar pointed out.
Meanwhile, some of the college goers who had applied for the driving licence are mulling to enquire about the status of their submitted applications. One such student Ruchika Mittal from St Xavier’s College said, “I thought DTO will send my driving license through speed post. But, my father told to collect it from the office. I will visit DTO in a day or two to know about my license. Driving scooty and car without Dl is unsafe.”
“Preparing affidavit was quite hectic. We had to roam a lot. I submitted my tenth and 12th class mark sheets along with Aadhaar card copies. Everything was original. I hope to get my driving license soon,” 19 year old resident Nikita Jain said.
Notably, there was a huge rush of students during the three day drive for obtaining driving licenses. For students aged above 16 years license without gear two wheelers while for students aged above 18 years with gear two wheelers four wheelers Dl is to be issued.
