Over two lakh residents of Mango will have to faceelectricity woes as the Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam limited ( JUVNl) has decided to go for a shutdown in regular intervals for widening of the Pardih and Old Purulia Road.
JUVNl officials said that the shut-down is essential to ensure smooth road widening work. Both the Pardih and the Old Purulia Road — which connects with the National Highway-33 — are being widened with the funds provided by the local MlA and the State Government. To facilitate the road widening work, a shut-down will be effected to ensure hassle-free construction.
RJ Singh, superintending engineer of JUVNl, said that the shutdown will be carried out area-wise.In some places it has already started while in some places it will begin from Wednesday. The shutdown in a particular locality will last for five to six hours.Areas like Dimna Road, Azadnagar, Zakirnagar, Sankosai and Baliguma on the National Highway-33 were facing compulsory intermittent power cuts and prolonged loadsheddings.
Sources at JSEB's headquarters said that the initiative was taken to make sure that the Singhbhum unit of JUVNl, which has the largest concentration of industries, gets a steady supply of electricity during peak hours. However, the construction work is forcing the department to go for laod shedding.Notably, around two lakh residents of different localities in Mango were affected when they failed to get power supply for three days from August 6 due to the mishap in which the high tension 33 KV lines fell into the Subernarekha river when an overloaded truck hit the overhead cables near the l&T yard on the Marine Drive.
The senior JUVNl official said that they were hopeful that the provision of the stand-by line will be made in the next two months.
