In view of the increasing road accidents in the district, on Thursday, Lohardaga Science for Society unit and Burman Highway Petrol Pump near BS College made an effort to provide information about road safety rules and regulations to small and big vehicles. For this purpose, hoardings with sarcastic and symbolic slogans in regional languages useful for life were put up in petrol pumps. Along with this, pamphlets regarding road safety rules and regulations were distributed among small and big private and commercial vehicles.
On the occasion, Society President Dr. Ganesh Prasad and Road Safety Committee member Sanjay Burman said that half an hour is the golden hour in a road accident. If the injured person is taken to the hospital during this period, the chances of saving his life increases by more than 50 percent. An incentive amount of Rs 5000 is also given by the government and honored by the district administration. And definitely mention your address in the hospital. Some people keep making videos without helping the victim, which is condemnable. Also, before leaving home, the drivers should remember to wear a mobile phone, handkerchief, weather appropriate clothes, shoes and slippers and do not forget to wear a helmet. This is not the responsibility of the government or the administration but it is their own responsibility.
Committee Secretary Rahul Kumar and Red Cross Society Secretary Arun Ram said that use of phones while driving, overloading in commercial and private vehicles, allowing pedestrians to cross the road safely, not to drink and drive, following the speed limit etc. Appeals were made for rough driving, wearing seat belts, maintaining distance from other vehicles and for parents not to give vehicles to minors. Jagatpal Kesari and Alok Kumar of the committee said that due to the stubbornness of their children, parents buy heavy and expensive vehicles but do not advise them to wear helmets. It is unfortunate that about 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents in the country and to save lives, the government, social and voluntary organizations have to leave important work and invest energy in such work. If people become self-aware, the nation will benefit greatly. Praveen Kumar, Deshraj Goyal, pump worker Amit Soni, Akash Oraon, Surendra Oraon, Unnat Oraon, Sarita Oraon, Vinay Aggarwal etc. participated in the program.
