In a bid to streamline the door to door garbage collection service here in the State’s biggest Urban Local Body (ULB), the capital city of Ranchi, Municipal Commissioner (MC), Manoj Kumar during the monthly board meeting with the ward councilors on Tuesday stated that RMSW Essel Infra will continue lending its service in collaboration with Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC).
At present, RMSW Essel Infra manages as many as 34 wards of the State Capital whereas 19 wards of Ranchi are under the control and supervision of the Civic Body.
“With festival round the corner, we need to collaborate and work like a team. Since, the firm has taken up the charge of a quite a number of wards here, extension or suspension of this company will be decided once all major festival gets over,” said the Municipal Commissioner.
Annoyed with the approach of RMSW, recently several ward councilors had unanimously demanded to terminate the services of the company. According to the ward councilors, even after several rounds of meeting over this issue especially focusing on the work style of the company, no significant step has been ever taken up by RMC senior officials to improvise its service.
“With no other option left with RMC at this moment, the officials including both Mayor and Deputy Mayor have decided to give extension to the firm. The firm managing the task of solid waste collection here in the State Capital will continue its service for a month now. With merely a few days left for festive season to start, the decision has been approved during the meeting,” said Ward Councilor and president of RMC Standing Committee, Arun Jha. Over Rs . 3 crore is spent on a monthly basis for carrying out different sanitation activities within the municipal periphery.
