The Water Board of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation will soon be revamped for the convenience of the denizens. At the RMC board meeting on Monday all the ward councillors unanimously voted against the engineer and assistant engineer. Mayor Asha lakra, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijaywargia and Town Commissioner, Prashant Kumar have given their consent on the decision.
“I am getting complains regularly about engineer Vijendra Kumar and assistant engineers. Since long the water board is not delivering its duty, the way it should have done to tackle the crisis. There are several cases which are pending. After receiving complains from different ward councillors, it can be concluded that the Water Board need to be reformed,” added Town Commissioner, Prashant Kumar.
“As the civic body does not have the power to suspend engineers and assistant engineers, now all these personnel will be transferred to department head office and will be just involved in file work. Even the basic coordination between the field workers and engineers are lacking, which is ultimately hitting the work at the grass root level,” Kumar pointed out.
Deputy Mayor, Sanjeev Vijaywargia stated, “Approximately 30 places were demarcated for putting HYDT, mini HYDT and hand pumps but the entire project took a back seat due to the shabby attitude of the officers incharge and engineers. At present three companies have been given the task but the performance of the companies is not up to the mark. Despite several attempts, at times, engineers could not be approached and they do not even present the report to the concerned officials on time. Some stringent action was must to curb such issues and set example.”
This apart, ward councillors discussed about the status and problems involved with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme including the rain water harvesting project that is presently in muddle.
“There are certain technical glitches involved with the rain water harvesting system. People are yet not clear about its concept and some even do not know whom to exactly approach for the purpose,” said, Ward Councilor of Ward 21, Roshini Khalkho.
