RMC to soon become a paperless facility

With Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) shifting its services to the new building in Kutchery Road, efforts are also being made by the civic body to start e-office services at the earliest.

With the commencement of this service, work of the people will also be done within the prescribed time under the Right to Service Act. A similar service has also been recently implemented in Bihar.

“Presently efforts are being made to start the e-office service. In this regard a timeline will be made and soon RMC will be converted into a paperless facility. Work in some sections is complete while in the remaining sections it is in process and very soon 100 percent e-office services will be launched,” said Ranchi Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar.

“In this regard, maps for all new buildings as per the bylaws are now being approved online and no paper work is being done. Correspondence related to other development work, sanction of holidays, establishment cell and other services are also being gradually switched over to this platform,” added the Municipal Commissioner.

The civic body has also scheduled a follow up meeting on January 19 and with a rigid timeline the e-office services will be started soon.

With e-office services becoming operational, birth and death certificates will now be issued in 7 days as against two weeks’ time. Services related to water connection and repair of hand pumps will also be resolved in a week’s time. Maps of residential and commercial builds can be registered in 60 days while lodge- hostel and multiplex in 30 days.

“The citizens of Ranchi will also be encouraged to visit the portal to assess and pay their holding tax online. The concerned agency was also issued a show cause notice as they were not encouraging the people’s participation for online processes.

This will also resolve any complaints regarding miscalculation and fake assessments. People will also be encouraged to avail the services for trade licenses,” added Kumar.
