The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) hospital at Ratu Road has been in the limelight from the past couple of years. Earlier it caught people’s attention regarding hunt for suitable bidder and it is again trapped in red tapism.
After a long wait of two years RMC handed the responsibility of running the hospital at a 15 years lease to Devkamal Hospital. But the civic body has now turned a deaf ear to its announcement. Despite various efforts of the Devkamal hospital authorities, the corporation is not providing the premises for renovation.
Devkaml hospital director Dr Anant Sinha said, “Due to lack of support from RMC we are not able to renovate the hospital. Till now they have not handed the premises to us. We are leaving no stone unturned in kicking off the hospital on stipulated time currently the plan is in shambles.”
Although with the support of Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani the 20 bedded healthcare centre had already been renovated once but looking at the present scenario the hospital requires further renovation which includes replacement of beds, set up of new diagnostic machines and painting of the rooms wall.
When Dr Sinha was enquired over the plan made by the authorities regarding running of doctors he said, “Till date no plans has been made. Once RMC provides us the hospital further action will be taken accordingly.”
Meanwhile, the RMC officials have denied reports which say that they have been neglecting the issue. They termed the allegation to be baseless. RMC Deputy CEO Shailendra lal said, “Sudden change of CEO has shuffled the work pattern of RMC. We also want the hospital to open on the stipulated time but the scenario is such that we are not able to provide our complete contribution. Once things settle down within the corporation we will look into the matter.”
