With the ever-increasing mercury level, not just the city residents are feeling the pinch of early summer season. In the wake of sultry weather condition, the green patches located around the State capital too are feeling the heat.
Considering that maintenance of parks covering acres of land in Ranchi is a big challenge for the civic body in summers, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) claimed that alternative arrangements have been made this season to tackle water crisis along with assuring adequate water supply to all green lungs.
“We have given the charge of maintaining all the parks to an agency, Green India on contract basis. As 2,000 liters water tankers have been arranged by the company, the water is collected as per the requirement from the four major water stations that at present have ample water in store. Per day, water is collected from Harmu station, Doranda, Bakri Bazaar including Jaipal Singh Stadium sub-station,” said RMC PRO Naresh Kumar Sinha.
Also the parks have been decked up with expensive shrubs and foliages, watering of the green pastures and trees have been planted on the road dividers and along the busiest streets is an uphill task.
“Maintenance of plants and green hedges that are decorated on road dividers is being done under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of several companies and they are ensuring that the watering of plants is done regularly. The municipal body is keeping the track record of this as well,” added Sinha.
Expansion of green zones in the recent years has come as a respite for fitness freaks and leisure buffs in city but keeping the lush green areas lively and preserved during blistering summer has always been a problem.
The Morabadi park aka Ram Dayal Munda Park, the five-acre Sido-Kanhu Park, Sri Krishna Park in Doranda, Dada Dadi Park, Children’s Park near Morabadi ground and Zakir Hussain Park near Raj Bhawan that covers more than two acres of land comes under the jurisdiction of the civic body and are maintained by the agency engaged by RMC every year to keep its charm alive.
