RMC ready to fight vector borne diseases

During the ongoing monsoon season, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has stepped up its efforts to keep the State capital clean and fight against vector borne diseases.

The civic body had started a drive to clean the drains in the pre monsoon season itself. For the prevention of diseases like malaria and dengue common during this season, spraying of bleaching powder and larvicide along all the drains is being done on a regular basis.

“Keeping the rainy season in mind, the ward representatives and supervisors have been asked to be extra careful. To monitor the spraying of larvicide on a day to day basis, the Municipal Corporation has appointed an officer in each of the 53 wards,” Dr Kiran Kumari, Health Officer RMC.

The civic body has also deployed a surveillance team in all the wards to create awareness regarding the precautions that needed to be taken during the rainy season. Besides this, people are also being made aware about the symptoms of these diseases and the campaign is likely to continue for the next two- three months.

“As a part of the awareness campaign residents are being asked to ensure that there is no water logging in and around their homes. They are also being advised to change the water from coolers at least twice a week and also clear all the trash from their backyards. The teams have also been instructed to check for any abandoned garages, stagnant water in utensils or broken pots and unused tyres. People are also being told that a penalty will be levied if stagnant water is found anywhere in their houses,” said the health officer.

The official further stated that RMC has also being conducting intensive sanitation drives against coronavirus as well. Spraying of sodium hypochlorite is being done on a regular basis and this will continue for as long as is required.

The official also stated that all public complaints and grievances can be filed through Whatsapp or SMS at 9431104429 and the problem will be solved within 24 hours.
