The elected representatives of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) seem to be obsessed with the Ranchi Master Plan-2037 and want it implemented in all municipal wards.
The Standing Committee of RMC on Wednesday pushed forward the city development plan for the RMC board to stamp its approval of the plan. The plan has been prepared by a Gurgaon based firm, Feedback Infra Pvt ltd
“We want that the part of the plan for municipal area be implemented and that is why we will ensure that it is passed in the next meeting of the board,” said Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya.
However, the biggest hurdle is yet to be crossed. The 13-member committee has to convince 55 ward councilors who incidentally form the board of the municipal body about the plan and break the deadlock over issues that saw the plan derailed on several occasions earlier. The committee includes Mayor besides, Deputy Mayor of RMC.
“There should not be any obstruction as all outstanding issues have been resolved and we will get it cleared from the board comfortably,” maintained the Deputy Mayor.
The draft plan was shown today to all ward councilors to make the plan sail through comfortably in the proposed meeting of the board on October 16. The ambitious plan to revamp the city especially after creation of Jharkhand faced ire of all stake holders for murky suggestions about making best use of the land available.
“let us see what they (Feedback Infra) show us. In the past they have tried to convince us about their plan but their draft failed to answer some basic questions about land usability,” said councillor of ward-28 Ashok Baraik.
The interesting tale of scrimmage between the firm and RMC has pushed the former back on drawing board many times. But sources say that the real push behind the elected representatives of the civic body is coming from the fact that land is a big issue in rural areas surrounding the capital which cannot be overcome with ease.
“There are so many controversies regarding acquisition of land. Even government buildings have succumbed to land politics so it is wise to move ahead with the portion of the plan which can be implemented,” said a ward councilor.
