In a move to prevent Dengue and Malaria in the State Capital, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Mayor, Asha Lakara on Tuesday held a review meeting with the officials of the Corporation regarding the cleanliness. She got information about cleanliness of the city before Diwali and cleaning of Chhath ghats for Chhath festival were discussed.
Lakra instructed the officials present during the meeting that for the prevention of malaria and dengue, the team of the corporation and health department is doing door-to-door visits. “Both the teams are standing in coordination. Cold fogging and spraying of Larvasite and Temiphas chemicals are also being done in all the wards. So that mosquito larvae can be destroyed,” she added.
The Mayor said that RMC has 27 fogging machines at present. “Along with this, apart from the cold fogging machine, Tata Ace vehicles are also being used. After fitting the machine in the Sintex tank, chemicals are sprayed in all the wards on the basis of roster. Apart from this, 4-4 hand spray machines have been provided in each ward. The team is checking the water logging by doing door-to-door visits so that dengue-malaria can be prevented from spreading,” she added.
Lakra said that according to the information received from the officials, work is being done day and night on a war footing to clean the city before Diwali. She directed the officers to get the sanitation workers to work for 8 hours a day. “Empty the compactor available in MTS daily. There is a need to do double work every day with the tractor available in the wards so that the garbage can be sent to the slit. Apart from this, there is a need to increase the number of vehicles and scavengers for cleaning work in the wards,” she added.
The Mayor said that before the Chhath festival, the work of cleaning the ghats should be completed. There are a total 67 Chhath Ghats in the Municipal Corporation area. Some ponds are also being cleaned with weed harvesting machines. He said that four days before Chhath festival, sprinkle lime and bleach around all the ghats. For security, put red ribbons in the depth area of the reservoirs.
