RMC invites bid for securing Khadgarha Bus Terminal

The revamped Birsa Munda inter-state bus terminal in Khadgarha was expected to present a better picture before visitors coming to Ranchi, but the busiest bus stand of the city has been left unmanaged and unguarded after it was revamped at a cost of more than Rs15 crore in absence of interested parties.

Now, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has invited expression of interest from registered security agencies to look after the security arrangements of the bus terminal, where thousands of passengers arrive and board buses bound to destinations within and outside the State.

The tender notice presents a requirement of 10 security guards and one supervisor for handling the security arrangements at Khadgarha bus terminal. The number of security guards may change as per requirement, stated a RMC official. Interested parties have been asked to submit their proposals by 3:00 pm on February 23 in the office of RMC Municipal Commissioner (MC) Prashant Kumar, which will be opened by him on the same day. The applicants should be security agencies certified by Directorate General Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Government of India or Jharkhand State Sainik Kalyan Nideshalaya.

Additionally, the management of the bus terminal, which was initially supposed to be taken up by an experienced private party and got no takers, will also be overseen by the urban local body. City Manager Shahid Hassan, presently working with RMC’s Market Section has been named the new Bus Terminal Manager. “A notification was released some time back, defining the responsibilities of the newly appointed Bus Terminal Manager. He will be responsible for supervising lighting arrangement, cleanliness and other administrative aspects of the bus terminus’ operation,” informed Bidya Nand Sharma Pankaj, Assitant Municipal Commissioner, RMC.

Meanwhile, a Jan Sunwai camp was organised by RMC at Aman Youth Society, Hindpiri on Saturday where residents of Wards 23, 24, 25, 26 and 30 came to have their grievances addressed by civic guardians.
