The newly opened Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) hospital, situated at Ratu Road, in his 39 days has received more than 400 patients but only one third have received the attention from the concerned doctors. “There are few doctors who visit the hospital for couple of hours. Only staff stay here on permanent basis,” said the hospital staff on the condition of anonymity.

After a long wait of two and half years, 20 bedded RMC Hospital which was renovated with the support of Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani, handed over to Devkamal Hospital at a lease of 15 years. The hospital aims at providing good treatment at cheaper rate to the people hailing from the weaker section of the society.

When the Devkamal Hospital’s Director Dr Ananth Sinha who was enquired about the matter he commented, “It will take time for the doctors to settle down with the routine. Moreover, in this wedding season majority of our doctors are on leave. Once they return back the problem will get curb.”

Recently when RMC CEO Manoj Kumar and Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya visited the hospital, they were shocked to find long queue of patients waiting for the doctor. They have warned the hospital management to follow the suit soon else stern action will be taken against them.

“We have provided them two months time to curb the problem. If the management fails to abide by the contract in this span of time then RMC will strike off its contract with them,” said RMC CEO Manoj Kumar.

Besides, the chemist shop within the hospital is also a big disappointment for the patients as majority of medicines are not available there. “Just few antiseptics and drugs are available in our shop so far,” said a staff who was managing the shop. However, responding to the query on the same Dr Ananth Sinha said, “Within couple of months all the problems will be addressed and the hospital will start function smoothly.”
