RMC gives A2Z 90-day breather

Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) board could not arrive at any consensus on waste management firm A2Z except giving another 90 days timeframe to mend mode of operation and clear city garbage.

“We have told them that if situation doesn’t improve in the next three months their contract will be terminated,” Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya said, adding “Board meeting will not be necessary to  terminate the contract.” The waste management firm has been under intense criticism for failing to keep the city clean and it will now work under the supervision of ward councillors.

RMC approved to change the name of Hazaribagh Road to Swami Vivekanand Road besides putting proposal to rename Booty More - Machlighar Road to Dr Rajendra Prasad Path, Zakir Hussain Park - Hotlips to Zakir Hussain Road, and the road from Booty More – Kokar to Shivaji Path.

The development of various  wards as per the report submitted by ward councillors and funds allocation was also discussed. Around Rs 8 lakh will be given, but   councillorsexpressed dissatisfaction over the funds, citing a long list of works. “We have been told that more funds will come which will be distributed to take care development works” said Saroj Gadi, a councillor.
