The RMC board meeting scheduled on Saturday was cancelled yet again as none of the ward councilors turned up. In two months’ time, this was the third board meeting that was cancelled leaving workers and ward councilors helpless. Mayor has blamed the tyrant attitude of Town Commissioner, Prashant Kumar along other officials as well for playing dirty tricks to hide corruption and other serious charges.
“All welfare works at different wards are pending. Even when the board meeting is conducted, it is attended by few ward councilors only. The board meeting was cancelled this time again as the board meeting proceeding file has been sent for some legal consultation to some department officials without the consent of Mayor,” said, Mayor Asha lakra while briefing the press.
Putting serious allegations of corruption charges on several officials of RMC, Mayor pointed out, “After the revelation of ‘Bright’ company corruption matter and other hoarding related issues, officials here are creating unnecessary disturbance to distract everyone from the main agenda. Due to the laid back attitude, at present the corporation is losing huge amount in holding tax as well.”
The Mayor has submitted the letter for further probe on the matter of Bright lED light company and Surya lights contract to Urban Development Minister, CP Singh, Principal Secretary Urban Development Minister, Town Commissioner Prashant Kumar and other officials.
On the other hand, lakra has also appealed to the ward councilors to attend the meeting that is conducted regularly for the public welfare and for smooth functioning of Municipal Corporation tasks. “None of the ward councilors are against Mayor, they are reluctant to boycott the board meeting as no major decision is taken in the absence of other members.
The board meeting was successfully conducted on August 10, September 29 and November 19.
Yet a ward councilor earlier had submitted in writing, stating that the board meetings are not held regularly which creates hindrance in carrying out civic work. I am fighting against corruption and will continue to do so,” added lakra.
