After witnessing rounds of conflicting situations between the elected and nominated heads of the civic body, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation board meeting was finally conducted on Thursday following a gap of about seven months in the presence of Urban Development Minister CP Singh. Mayor Asha lakra, Town Commissioner Prashant Kumar, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijaywargiya along with ward councillors and RMS officials were present in the meeting that discussed several agendas here on Thursday.

Among one of the primary agendas on Thursday discussed was allotment of `5 crore funds to Ward councillors to brace the city for the coming water scarcity during summers, said Additional Municipal Commissioner Bidyanand Sharma Pankaj. The funds would be used for setting up HYDT and rejuvenating other water resources across the city.

Deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijaywargiya said that the board has decided to wrap up unfinished work relating to arrangement of water during summers. “We have also discussed on sending the funds available with the civic body for completion of the necessary works. The Government funds allotment that will take place later would fill the RMC coffers again,” he said adding, “The board meeting would continue tomorrow and discuss some issues of prime importance.”

Ward councillors also said that issues including cleanliness of the city, sewerage-drainage project, hike in DA, leave encashment of Councillors and other employees were discussed in the meeting.

Mayor Asha lakra, who has been raising voice against Town Commissioner, Deputy mayor and other officials of RMC for not paying heed to her voices appeared contented with today’s meeting as she said, “ We should solve the issues with mutual dialogue and consent rather than indulging in unnecessary fights.”

The Mayor said that a number of issues would be discussed in the meeting that would continue tomorrow including the clearance of the board of the decisions taken on the last meeting.
