Following the fall in temperature, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) as well as the district administration are gearing up to provide basic facilities to the urban poor.
Deputy Mayor Sanjiv Vijayawargia said that the instructions have been issued to the ward councillors to distribute blankets among the needy, while ‘rain-baseras’ meant for homeless people are being decked up with essential facilities as per the orders.
There are approximately 21 ‘rain-baseras’ in the capital city. “The RMC team has completed the survey and ward councilors have been instructed to restore all the identified places falling under their jurisdiction with essential services like blankets, mattresses etc. As the blanket consignment was on time, sufficient number of blankets has been given to each ward. The ward councilors have been instructed to identify the spots where bonfire arrangements can be made,” the Deputy Mayor added.
As per the district administration officials, the task of identifying the major spots for bonfire arrangements is under process. As per the list compiled by the Circle Officers (COs), arrangements will be made following all safety norms. Meanwhile, firewood procurement process has been complete.
