Restless day for Lalu at Kelly Bungalow

Published on:

Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD president Lalu Prasad had a restless day throughout on Tuesday at Kelly Bungalow in Ranchi when the counting for Bihar Assembly election was going on.

Lalu, a convict of fodder scam cases, is lodged at RIMS’ sprawling bungalow for treatment. Sources said that in the morning Lalu watched television for a few hours to know about the outcome of the counting. But, he switched-off the television when the NDA slowly started gaining edge on the RJD led Mahagathbandhan. He then came out of the room and sat on a chair on the sprawling lawn of the bungalow to soak-up in the sun. His attendants were seen rubbing oil on his body to keep him warm.

In between, Lalu Prasad was also taking feedback over phone about the performance of the RJD and Mahagathbandhan, which his son and anointed heir Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is leading. Often, he strolled on the lawn of the bungalow.

People familiar with Lalu Prasad said that he was tensed throughout three phases of polling in Bihar. But he was very relaxed when the results of opinion polls arrived that predicted the Mahagathbandhan having a clear edge on the NDA.

But the outcome of the election must have left him disappointed as the situation was tough for the Mahagathbandhan despite the projected anti-Nitish wave.

RIMS doctors twice visited him at the bungalow and checked his blood pressure. Doctors advised him to avoid stress.

Notably, on the day of the third and last phase of polling Lalu had fallen ill.

What made him worried is the fact that this is for the first time when the RJD is contesting assembly election in Bihar without his presence. Nevertheless, even remaining in judicial custody Lalu was able to control affairs of his party and consolidated opposition for a formidable alliance against the NDA in Bihar.
