Bihar Governer Dr Ramnath Kobind has said on Sunday that provision of reservation for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) was a way of social justice, and not alms giving.
Distributing certificates to those poor students from Tribal Study Centre run by Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur who have succeeded in securing a government job for themselves, Kobind said that number of government job has an upper limit, which is far below the number of youth seeking job. He also appealed those present there to be honest in whatever they are doing.
He on the occasion also praised the works done in the rural areas of the state by Vikas Bharti and acknowledging the efforts which Secretary of the organisation and Padma Shree Ashok Bhagat made in order to spread awareness among rural populace. “Works done at micro level have strength to change scenario at macro level and this is what Bhagat and his team has been doing over 3 decades,” Kobind said.
In the presence of Revenue, Art and Culture and Tourism Minister of Jharkhand Anar Bauri, MlA duo Jitu Charan Ram and Shiv Shanker Oraon, former Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maru, Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University RK Pandey, Chairman of JAC Arvind Prasad Singh, Bhagat said that in last 30 years, the organisation has continuously been working to help tribal people in the hinterland of the state to make their life easy. He said that Tribal Study Centre has not been helping only tribal students, but poor students from any class come here to get proper guidance.
“What Governments at Centre and Ctate have been doing in the villages and jungles of Jharkhand is just a replica of what we have been already doing in the fields of education, agriculture, health, gardening and cash crop plantation since over three decades,” Bhagat said. He also offered his gratitude to all the stakeholders and government as well for helping and motivating the organisation to do whatever it has been doing.
He said that organisation has added over 15,000 youth to employment through skill development.
Recognising the works of Vikas Bharti, Bauri said that the organisation has been doing an excellent work in agriculture, education, skill development, employment among others in rural Jharkhand and adjoining areas in other States, where Government alone couldn’t make its reach due to one reason or the other.
